New Year, New Post
I have decided that with the New Year here, this is my opportunity to jump back into something that is positive, is good for me and something that I enjoy doing. I know that I am supposed to be doing this and have made it a priority because there have been too many times where I happen to have free time and just sitting down and wondering what to do or on the computer thinking I should be writing about that particular topic. I didn't because I thought it was too late to jump back in. I also want to get back into writing for freelance jobs.
That's the thing about our mindsets. Once it is made up, there is no changing it. Until the next wave of circumstances happen to wash over us. Then we rise above it and are renewed with different thoughts than what we once had. This is me, all the time.
I know that I have a lot to share and offer. I have my opinions and thoughts about stuff and I have ideas and resources to share. It is my hope that you will help support me in my endeavor by being engaged with me on here by adding your comments, sharing things you find worthy and suggest other things, as well. I know you get the point, so I will stop right there.
It is my goal to post something every day but we know that is not always realistic and possible, so at a minimum of once a week.
It is my intention to post from my heart and mind, my own speaking. I hope that I will have the ability and sense to know just how much to write or post is enough and not too much.
I also want to post and share other links and articles that I feel are worthy of sharing on here.
I know that everything may not be of interest to you and that is okay, it is here to help me, too. This is a daily work in progress.
I am ready and I am doing this, right now!
Currently, while on school break, I am in the process of cleaning out the paper clutter in my office and also making a Vision Board to help me make a good running start to a successful new year. I will be posting my Vision Board, as it comes along. I will be posting tips, tricks and ideas that I am doing to help the process with the paper clutter. I am also trying to grow my photography business in between going to school for a dual degree in Photography and also Graphic Design, which should go nicely with my current degree in Computer Information Technology.
I have not decided how much personal things I want to be writing about. I have been thinking about this for a long, long time now. We all know there are people on Social Media who do not know the boundaries of posting personal information, however at the same time, it could help someone. So what do you suggest? Do you have rules or recommendations on how much is too much? Does a blog have different rules than on Social Media?
Happy New Year! Let's make it a successful, positive and prosperous one!

Pot Luck: Inside a Beverly Hills Cannabis Club Dinner Party
The moms of this club have battled cancer, chronic pain and crippling anxiety. They say that what got them feeling normal and healthy again wasn't prescription drugs but marijuana did.
They say that they do it to take the edge off and to remain functional and checked in as parents, not to get baked out of their minds. They feel that just as other parents might choose how much to drink around their kids, they are the only ones who can judge what the line between being stoned and buzzed is. They say that they struggle with how to best educate their children on the subject of drug use, just like any parent.
The moms say they try to be responsible and healthy by choosing to vaporize the marijuana. Using small mechanical devices which look like cigarettes, it heats the cannabis just enough to make the THC active and doesn't produce as much harmful smoke.
At the parties, they create edibles, consisting of fettuccine and chicken with marinara sauce made from cannabis infused olive oil and strawberry shortcake.
So, I was not surprised to hear about this because of the fact that Marijuana is becoming legal in more and more states, nor about the fact that they mentioned how happy they felt and how it took them out of depression. I was glad that they mentioned how they were like zombies and checked out when they were using prescription drugs. This is something that seems to get overlooked quite frequently, in my opinion. Prescription drugs are being abused and I have heard of parents taking and even abusing them. They are laid up in bed all day and it becomes more of an excuse, unfortunately, to the kids expense.
I do worry for these parents for the fact that they are doing this in front of their kids. Vaporizer or not, I don't feel that is ever a good idea. Although, I don't know why it would be any more appropriate or okay for someone to smoke or drink in front of or around kids. But, I guess we do it and that is okay. There is still a big stigma in this country about marijuana use. It will be interesting to see what comes of this in the years to come.
Watch the video and let me know what you think or have to say about this topic. Do you think it can make you a better parent?

After feeling uncomfortable and out of my element for some time because I kept doubting myself, this is a good way to end the interview. This was a very special way for me because not only did I know these things about myself, but this test reaffirmed to me what I already knew about myself. I also loved how beautifully it was written and put these in such a good light because sometimes, when people say these things to me or about me, I take interpret it in a more negative light.I am taking this information to heart because these are things my parents always said about me. They are passed away now and as I was reading the PI, I could hear my parents voices saying it. It was like they were right there with me.
I absolutely love the idea. It can be used to motivate employees or gain insight about a potential employee. The way that it was written did motivate me.
What do you think about Predictive Indexes?

Night Owl Mama; Where are Your Babies When you Get Out of the Car?

Where are Your Babies When you Get Out of the Car?
I'm sick to my stomach. I can't believe what I am reading and seeing in the news. Countless times I have seen the news that children are left in carseats or in a seat belt and a parent, caregiver or family member has forgotten to take the child out of the car when they get out. Many of these cases the child is under age 1 and in a rear facing carseat, thus you can't see them. Parents who are forgetting their children are not stung out on drugs or up partying all night. Many of these Parents are educated people. The thought of this terrifies me. We as parents have so much on our minds and are lacking sleep, clear heads and have alot on our plates that we are not taking the extra precautions to make sure that the back seat is empty before walking away from the car.
HERE'S A list of extra pecautionary measures that I take when my children are in the back seat.
~1 I leave my purse in the back seat with them. My Purse is thing 1st I Grab when ever I get out of the car. If I can't find it I look in the back seat.
~2. I put the diaper bag in the front seat. I never have the diaper bag with me unless the baby is with me.
~3. I leave my coat in the back seat. In the winter driving with my coat on always bothers me. SO I take it off after the car warms up and put it in the back seat. Getting out the car I'm going to freeze my butt off so I reach in the back to get my coat.
~4. Back when I used to drop my son off at daycare their policy was to call if I was more than a half hour late from dropping him off. This will prevent accidentally not dropping a child off.
How we can all help by being Nosey. Look in cars as you walk through parking lots. See an infant seat take a walk by and look. Children are not to be left in a car unattended under 6 without the supervision of a person who is 12 years of age or older. See a child or children alone in a vehicle call the authority's.
Cars left in the Hot sun can reach inside temperatures up to 140 degree's. No one could survive that. I like to put up Sun visors and crack the windows when I get out. To keep the car and inside seats cooler. That's for me when I return. If you get yourself into a routine we can make sure that this doesn't happen to us or others.

S.D. rancher claims $232.1 million Powerball 23-year-old man's family recently had a mobile home repossessed
23-year-old man's family recently had a mobile home repossessed...

PIERRE, S.D. - A 23-year-old rancher whose family has fallen behind in their taxes and recently had a mobile home repossessed claimed a $232.1 million Powerball jackpot on Friday, one of the largest undivided jackpots in U.S. lottery history.
Neal Wanless, who lives on his family's 320-acre ranch near Mission, S.D., bought the winning ticket in the nearby town of Winner late last month during a trip to buy livestock feed. He will take home $88.5 million in a lump sum payment after taxes are deducted.
Wanless, who did not speak publicly about the win until Friday, spoke for only a couple of minutes at a South Dakota Lottery ceremony Friday, reading a prepared statement. He was wearing a big black cowboy hat and had a huge grin on his face.
"I want to thank the Lord for giving me this opportunity and blessing me with this great fortune. I will not squander it," he said.
Wanless said he intends to use the money to help those in need. "My family has been helped by the community and I intend to repay that help many times over."
He told lottery officials that since winning, he has spent his time preparing to bale hay and doing other jobs around his family's ranch.
Wanless said he intends to continue ranching, albeit on a larger plot of land. He said he recently told his horse, Eleanor, that "It'd be nice if we go for a longer ride than usual on a bigger ranch of our own."
Wanless' is among the highest undivided lottery jackpot wins in U.S. history. An Oregon family turned $40 worth of tickets into $340 million Powerball prize in 2005, and at least four other winners won larger jackpots than Wanless'.
'Real meager means'
Friends and neighbors described the Wanlesses as a hardworking family with little money.
"I hope they enjoy their money," said county assessor Cathy Vrbka, a family friend. "They work hard, backbreaking hard work."
Dave Assman, who owns farmland next to the Wanless' ranch, said he's happy they won't have to worry about money again.
"They've been real short on finances for a long time," Assman said. "They are from real meager means, I guess you'd say."
The Wanlesses raised cattle, sheep and horses on their ranch is in eastern Todd County, the nation's seventh-poorest county in 2007, according to the U.S. Census Bureau. Much of the county is tribal land governed by the Rosebud Sioux Tribe.
But neighbors said Arlen Wanless, 54, has made a living in recent years mainly by buying and selling scrap metal.
Dan Clark, an auctioneer from Winner and a friend of more than two decades, said Arlen Wanless helped him at many auctions by buying things no one else wanted.
"Over the last 20 years, Arlen's bailed me out a lot of times," Clark said.
He said Arlen Wanless had trouble earning money when the price of iron dropped.
Hard times
Todd County records show that the family owes $3,552 in property taxes on the 360 acres of land for taxes payable in 2007, 2008 and 2009. The family had a mobile home repossessed last year.
Since word spread that the Wanless family had won the lottery jackpot, the gate to the dirt driveway that leads to the family home has been closed and padlocked.
The winning ticket was purchased at the Ampride convenience store, which will get a $50,000 bonus for selling the lucky ticket. Sharon Ulmer, manager of the store said she is glad the Wanless family won.
"From what I understand they don't have a lot, so the money definitely went to a good place," Ulmer said. "I know it went to a good home. They can use it."

Staples: They have what we need...for "the flu"

Inside Edition - Real Estate Infomercial Investigation - John Beck

| "You're about to learn how you can start buying homes like these for just a few hundred dollars," says the announcer at the start of real estate guru John Beck’s infomercial. The infomercial airs morning, noon and night all across the country. In it, Beck says if you send him just $39.95 he'll teach you how to buy beautiful homes for next to nothing. According to Beck, buyers can get incredible deals when people fail to pay their property taxes and the houses are auctioned off by the government. The hostess in the infomercial says, "We could not be telling you about it on national television if it was not true." INSIDE EDITION’s Senior Investigative Correspondent Matt Meagher went to Oklahoma where every house featured in the infomercial is located. There, with just a little digging, Meagher discovered, how Beck misleads viewers about the homes featured in the infomercial. On his infomercial Beck boasts about how a big two story home was purchased at a tax foreclosure sale for only $521.56. However, INSIDE EDITION learned that it actually cost three times as much, which would still be an amazing deal. But what Beck didn't show is what the home really looked like when it was purchased. It was completely dilapidated and took ten years and more than $100,000 for the current owner to make it look as good as it did in the infomercial. The current homeowner tells INSIDE EDITION the house was “pretty much…uninhabitable” when he purchased it. Also featured on the infomercial is another dazzling house that Beck says was actually purchased for less than $100. But, that’s not true. County records show it was acquired for more that $2,200 and was a falling down piece of junk at auction. It took four years and $40,000 to fix up. Beverly Glover was shocked when INSIDE EDITION showed her the infomercial. The infomercial implied that she lost her home because of just $329 in back taxes. Glover says, “That's a lie.” In the infomercial, Beck claims "[Glover’s home] was purchased free and clear for only $329.90." However, she actually never lost possession of her home. A clerical error had applied her tax payment to the wrong property. The mistake was corrected and she never left her home until she sold it for $158,000. Freeman says that not one of the homes featured in the infomercial has sold for the price John Beck has quoted them at. As many as 15,000 people a week cough up nearly $40 for Beck’s instructional DVDs and booklets. But that's just the beginning. Everyone who responds to the infomercial soon gets a call from a telemarketer at a company called Mentoring of America. It's owned by the same people who own the John Beck infomercial and several others like it. This is where the company makes the real money. Telemarketers follow a script that says the potential buyer is being considered for a select team that will be trained by John Beck himself, but that’s baloney. The telemarketers urge people to put up to $15,000 on their credit cards to pay for private over-the-phone tutoring, and say they’re almost certain to make that money back in just a few months Dawn Zuvic of Mississippi and Lani Maplesden from California both say they fell for the pitch. “I know that there's always money to be made in real estate,” Maplesden tells INSIDE EDITION. Zuvic says, “I was always hoping that eventually that I would be able to be make a good living at it.” They each paid more than $10,000 for the tutoring and have had no success. “It makes me cry a lot,” laughs Maplesden. “I'm still paying on the bills.” Dawn Zuvic says her mentor talked her into buying a tiny piece of land in Pennsylvania at what was supposed to be a huge discount. But, INSIDE EDITION found property records showing the land had been bought for only $585 and then sold to Zuvic for more than $2,595 only five months later. That wasn't a discount, it was more than a 300% markup! The land was sold to Dawn Zuvic by none other than John Beck himself! She's never been able to resell the land and has now had to take a second job as a waitress. Zuvic tells INSIDE EDITION, “I felt like, like I was taken.” Bill Mitchell of the Better Business Bureau in Southern California says John Beck's infomercial has generated hundreds of complaints and the company has received an “F” rating. “Their real business is selling blue sky, hot air,” Mitchell says. When Meagher asked how his companies helped people, Hewitt responded, “Why are you confronting me like this?!” He says that Mentoring of America is not a scam. “It is not [a scam]. First, first of all...you have your facts wrong.” His attorney later supplied INSIDE EDITION with a list of 13 people who said they had a good experience with the program, earning between $550-$39,600. But Lani Maplesden isn't convinced. She's $20,000 in debt and in danger of losing her home. She says if she could talk to John Beck, she’d ask him, “How can you sleep at night? Do you have any conscience at all?” The company says they dispute the Better Business Bureau's ratings system and claim they work to resolve consumer complaints. As far as the houses, they say Beck never states in the infomercial that the homes were in the condition shown when purchased. |

Eight Gifts that Cost Nothing
1. THE GIFT OF LISTENING.
But you must REALLY listen. No interrupting, no daydreaming, no planning your response. Just listening.
2. THE GIFT OF AFFECTION.
Be generous with appropriate hugs, kisses, pats on the back and handholds. Let these small actions demonstrate the love you have for family and friends.
3. THE GIFT OF LAUGHTER.
Clip cartoons. Share articles and funny stories. Your gift will say, 'I love to laugh with you.'
4. THE GIFT OF A WRITTEN NOTE.
It can be a simple 'Thanks for the help' note or a full sonnet. A brief, handwritten note may be remembered for a lifetime, and may even change a life.
5. THE GIFT OF A COMPLIMENT.
A simple and sincere, 'you look great in red,' 'you did a super job' or 'That was a wonderful meal' can make someone's day.
6. THE GIFT OF A FAVOR.
Every day, go out of your way to do something kind.
7. THE GIFT OF SOLITUDE...
There are times when we want nothing better than to be left alone. Be sensitive to those times and give the gift of solitude to others.
8. THE GIFT OF A CHEERFUL DISPOSITION.
The easiest way to feel good is to extend a kind word to someone, really it's not that hard to say, Hello or Thank You."

Morning Musing - Clutter on the Brain
This morning I woke up with Clutter on my brain. I got an email last
night from someone that whined that it was really hard for her to get
rid of STUFF. She thought that it must be easy for us to do this. The
truth is getting rid of clutter is hard for everyone at first. It
does get easier, but as with any new habit we are trying to
establish, we have to practice. This is why I teach you to use some
of our fun techniques to get rid of your clutter; 27 Fling Boogie or
a 5 Minute Room Rescue.
In order to get the clutter out of your home, you have to first
attack the clutter that is in your mind. Yes, our stinking thinking
is what makes us believe that we will need this someday and how could
we even possibly live without having this item in our home. The
creative people that we are, sees everything as a potential art
project. There are just some things that are plain trash. Then there
is the "Ole Poor Me" mindset that does not give yourself credit for
being able to provide for your family. This attitude is handed down
through the generations because of the struggle our grandparents had
during the great depression. There is also another side of holding
on to things! We are hoarding! Yes being selfish with our excesses by
not giving our unused items to new homes that need them. Just how
many can openers do you really need, not to mention; linens, dishes,
and furniture that is overcrowding your home. When we start to look
at this type of hoarding then we see that we can bless others with
our abundance and then when we need something, it will be provided
unto you. Your clutter is also filled with bad memories. Open up your
door and toss those bad, sad, and depressive feelings out! I want you
to smile when you walk through your home, not be reminded of sad
times.
Letting go of your clutter is difficult at first, but as you start to
see a clear area, you will be empowered to do just a little more.
Take babysteps and you will find yourself practicing the art of
FLINGing. It is so freeing to fling!
Let go of stinking thinking and FLY!
FlyLady
P.S. Donate it: Put it by the curb with a FREE sign on it. Watch it
FLY away into new homes that really do need it. The more you get rid
of the more you are going to save by not buying more clutter. As this
becomes a habit, you will notice that you are more selective about
your purchases. Just wait and see just how much money you are going
to save by not buying more clutter. Don't stash it in the garage for
that yard sale that never happens. The act of not having a yard sale
(GUILT) is harder on you than letting go of it. You will no longer
feel guilty because of that pile of clutter in your garage. Let it go!

Leave Only Love
I remember a testimonial from several years ago about a loving woman
who passed on and all her possessions (keepsakes) fit into one box.
The things she possessed were minimal but the relationships and love
she shared with others was endless. This past weekend I was in a home
with the mother and sister of a person who passed on with a house full
of possessions, some things never used, some obvious junk that was
just never thrown away and a few (like photographs and some furniture)
keepsakes.
It was very sad to see this family struggle with the burden of this
loss and the burden and confusion of all this STUFF.
So this February, I'm going to try very hard to fling as much as
possible. I'm going to start asking myself, "If I could only have one
box to leave behind, what would be in it?"
I never want my children to have to go through decades of receipts,
mountains of paper clutter or try to figure out what to do with things
I don't use, love or really have a home for now much less whenever I
pass on. When I do pass away, I don't want my home to filled with tons
clutter but tons of fun and loving memories and only a few keepsakes.
Thanks so much for having February be super Fling habit month, clutter
accumulates every day and being reminded to only hold on to things we
love, use and have homes for is a great gift.
Love to you and all FlyBabies everywhere,
FlybabyM
FlyLady here: Here is the testimonial that FlyBaby M is referring to:
Dear FlyLady,
My elderly cousin died Wednesday night. I went to her funeral
today. The church was packed. Everyone from teenagers to old people
was grieving. The funeral singers couldn't sing because of their
grief. The preacher got choked up talking about her and almost
couldn't go on.
Everyone was talking about her many kindnesses, how
she helped so many people, touched so many lives--in spite of
various infirmities and having so little in the way of financial
resources. I kept remembering how I always felt so welcome when I
visited her in the house she shared with her sister, and how much I
was going to miss knowing that welcome and encouragement was always
there.
Then, her nephew got up to speak about her, and he mentioned that
when they'd gone into her little bedroom, you could pack up every
worldly possession she owned, and it would fit into the trunk of a
normal size car...with space left over.
And I thought--ahh, so that was part of her secret. She lavished her
time on all of us, instead of investing it in things.
Then I came home and read the Saturday FlyLady rant about our clutter
sucking the life out of us, and agreed with all my heart. I believe
there is a direct correlation between the clutter (of all kinds) in
our lives and the good, kind things we never have the time to do.
I have a goal now that reaches beyond the occasional 27 fling boogie
(although that's a good start.) I'm wondering if it might be
possible even for a packrat like me, to come to the end of my life
with only enough possessions to fill the trunk of a car...but with a
church and community packed with people whose lives I've touched.
